How to be Successful in a Hypercompetitive Environment

The Answer is Found where you Least Expect it

"Team Spirit- an eagerness to sacrifice personal interests or glory for the welfare of all- is a tangible driving force that transforms individuals who are 'doing their jobs correctly' into an organization whose members are totally committed to working at their highest levels for the good of the group. Members of such an organization are unselfish, considerate, and put the goals of the organization above their own, even at the expense of their own desires. When this happens- and the leader is the one who makes it happen- the result is almost magical."

- John Wooden, UCLA Men's Basketball Head Coach

The answer to success is in each other. This is the mantra that I strove to align with throughout my entire summer. Do you want to be successful in your domain of expertise? As a salesperson, I am a highly ego-driven individual, yet I worked very hard to be unselfish & considerate of my team. What a challenge. I learned through lots of failure, and while working with my team members to create and present on our Services portfolio at Dell, I found that the more I just stopped talking and started listening to what my teammates cared about, the better we did.

"Never strive for perfection. You will always fall short. Strive to learn from your mistakes. Then you will grow."

- Me After Many Mistakes, but more importantly, Learning Opportunities
